    Logo Love

    I'm so excited to have the opportunity to design a logo for a friend and fabulous photographer, Rachel Closson. An opportunity to design for another artist is really inspiring (not to mention really fun!) And besides Rachel's fabulous design taste, I just love being able to help a small business owner grow and find their personal identity. A realtor, an accountant, even a dentist can own their certain look and leverage it to help them succeed. To reach Rachel, send her an email here.

    I hope you're having a lovely weekend! I am whipping up some other lovelies today as well! I have some custom-ordered stationery, and might even whip up some cards for Charm's black Friday sale. Thinking about getting out the old calligraphy pen! What are you doing this weekend? Putting those creative minds to work? Do tell!

    Rubies for baby Ruby...and Catherine, too.

    I've been busy this weekend! Putting together lots of pretties for my home party on Tuesday and the boutique in October. But, by far my faves are the personalized stationery I did for a couple of baby gifts for our friend's and family's new arrivals. Ruby-inspired, our friend and neighbor's 5th child arrived just over a week ago. So, we had to pick up this pomegranate metallic scalloped paper for her and of course embellish with RUBIES for Ruby! And sweet Catherine is our cousin's new baby and she just had to have the same. I love how they turned out. I will be offering this style for custom order coming soon, so email me if you're interested!

    I love Emily (and calligraphy!)

    Of course, we've never met. (Emily Jones & I, that is.) But, I am pretty sure if we did, we'd be instant besties. First of all, she's a graphic designer, too. And she even designs stationery and invitations (like me!) And she's super-duper fashion forward (OK, I strive to be although aren't yoga pants a lot more comfy?) Also, she's got adorable little ones (which we KNOW I have covered!) So, as you can tell I've been a big big fan of her blog, Emily Jones Design Company for a long time now.

    So, I was just too excited when today, in my little email box, came this new blog posting from Emily about how she's learning calligraphy, because I wrote a couple of months about this fantastic online course I took from I Still Love Calligraphy this summer. (See my original posting about it here). And guess what?! Yep, Emily is taking this exact course! I just knew we were meant to be BFFs, right? So, the Raspberry Prairie banner (top) is one of my attempts, as well as this piece (left). Why don't you pop over to visit Emily and see how she's coming along? (And while you're there let her know that I am really a fairly normal gal, and do not stalk for new best friends....very often.)

    Paper good-ies...

    There's something too perfect about personalized paper.

    {Don't get me wrong...I love it, would never leave it, believe if you've got it how can you beat it? I mean, really, it is the next best thing to seeing your name in lights, right? And if you are interested in personalized stationery I would be first in line to whip up a darling design for you (you could even choose one of the above), and in a New York minute, it's almost like you're on Broadway. So, just mosey on over and click the "contact me" button on the right and I'll be at your service.}

    But, how about those days where you're out of personalized, or you're feeling more whimsical or funky than even your stationery will allow? Here's a few that are easy, for a note the might not need an envelope? Or a super quick pick-me up for a friend. Maybe I'll pair them with a bright envelope? Or even a fancy pen...just to get those letters flowing...

    A is for alphabet

    So you could say I am obsessed with type. Letters. The alphabet. From typography to calligraphy, I cannot get enough of the alphabet. I guess it is a perfect fit then that I'm the art director for a magazine.

    So I recently made some cute paper covered wooden letters for Gracie's room, and after showing a photo to a friend she asked for an A for her niece, Addia. Yes, Addia. Is that the sweetest name, ever? She said they call her Addie. So, here is Addie's letter A. Secretly I was super happy because A is pretty much my favorite letter. Besides the fact that it is the boss of all the other letters, the line leader and even in charge of the most elite alapha group, the vowels, it is gorgeous. Right? I mean, there are so many great varieties, upper and lower, on a fabulous letter a.

    While I am still considering putting some of my designs in this new little boutique down the street on the railroad tracks, I am also interested in adding a shop to the blog! And maybe, just maybe happy little letter A's and some of A's friends, will be the first to pop up!?

    Happy friday!
